Methodology

Functional-Communicative Method

Our goal is to teach our students to communicate in a foreign language and to break down their language barrier!

At Linguabusiness we teach our students to express their thoughts and opinions in a foreign language, to understand those who they are talking to and to have the ability to take part in conversations with native speakers. During the lessons our teachers use as little Russian as possible and even our native-English teachers who know Russian will only speak in English. And why do they do this? Because training with situational-communicational methods allows the students during the lesson to completely immerse themselves in the language they are studying and to understand the meaning through an explanation using familiar words and with the help of simulated role plays. Our method develops language guesswork and improves the reaction time and spontaneity when the student speaks and also teaches the student to think in the language he is studying.

In order to successfully communicate in the language being studied role plays, situational activities and problem-solving exercises are commonly used.

Teachers organize their lessons in such a way that the student can learn everything he needs during the class time. However, if you would like your progress to increase significantly we advise you not to skip your homework. Try to use any opportunity to practice your speaking and take as active and brave a role as possible during the lessons.

Also, don’t forget that the end of the course in no way means an end to your studies: learning a foreign language is an ongoing process.

Materials from different sources are used over the course of the lessons: top contemporary textbooks and reference books; published in the countries of the studied language and written for specific programs; audio and video materials from Linguabusiness; materials from the mass media.
